Governor Wes Moore Visits York Building Products’ Belvedere, MD, Plant

Stewart Companies had the privilege of hosting Maryland’s new Governor, Wes Moore, along with members of his cabinet and elected officials from Cecil County on Thursday, March 2, at our York Building Products’ Belvedere Plant in Port Deposit, MD.  During an energizing few hours, we had the opportunity to discuss how we can all work together to drive responsible economic growth for Maryland in Cecil County while also addressing some challenges that exist today.

Specifically, we presented the unique opportunity to create new jobs by attracting quartz-based product manufacturers to the area as a result of our 99.98% pure SiO2, how we can make Cecil County, Maryland, the location for the first calcined clay plant in the U.S., and how to balance this economic development by ensuring that we invest in the housing, education and infrastructure to support the growth.

Finally, we discussed how we can utilize the new I-95 interchange and improved access to rail transportation to reduce truck traffic on local roadways.

We are very excited about what will be accomplished through a strong partnership with the State and Cecil County!
